A garden is the result of a process that comes from a desire and which must be achieved in a specific space. Therefore, it is important to study several factors such as climate, exposure (direction), soil quality, water availability, history of the place, etc, so that the intervention may be sustainable over time. Thus an landscape architecture project can have several stages.

1. Preliminary design

This stage is intended to study the site characteristics and to understand its strengths and weaknesses in light of the program and the client’s desires. A lay-out is then delivered for the area under review where the different functional zones, the green structure and other elements of the garden are defined.

2. Licensing

It consists of developing the specifications/drawings required to obtain the building licence from the municipality or other relevant authorities

3. Detailed design

This stage consists of preparing the specifications/drawings required to build the garden. Ideas will be developed according to the design approved in earlier stages. It may include planting plans, irrigation plan, constructive details, bill of quantities, specifications and other items required for work to be carried out satisfactorily.

4. Technical monitoring of the work

During the work any doubts about the design will be clarified.

5. Work supervision
